Love and Leadership

Updated: Nov 9, 2022

I was just at a friend’s wedding and during the service they read the Bible verse from 1 Corinthians, “Love is.” You know the verse:

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

As it was read I was struck by the thought that this verse doesn’t just apply to love. It also applies to leadership. When I think about the great leaders I’ve been associated with over the years I see all these traits in those people.

See if this is a leader you want to follow:

Leadership is patient, leadership is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Leadership does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Leadership never fails.

Wow, these are some powerful words.

Next time you think about what makes a great leader think about this passage. It will change you forever.

Until next time…I’m Marty, make every minute count.
