What Would You Do If You Weren’t Afraid

Updated: Nov 9, 2022

I was reading a post about a gentleman who was let go from his job after 23 years. After being let go, he bounced around between a few different jobs for several years, and his future was uncertain. His life turned when he finally asked himself, “What would I do if I was not afraid?”

His response was to go back to school. And after 3 years, he graduated with a degree in media arts. His life has forever been changed because he had the courage to ask the question, what would I do if I wasn’t afraid?

So many people are stuck where they don’t want to be, but they are too afraid to take the next step.

Life is short and true happiness lies within. Only when you challenge yourself to not be afraid and to do the thing you fear will you truly be happy.

Personally, I asked myself that question 11 years ago. I was not happy in my situation and I had to challenge myself to change.

But change was scary - I was 46 and had a lot to lose if I failed. But if I didn’t act, I would have probably been miserable for the rest of my life. So, I acted and now I could not be more proud of the company we created.

Remember, there will be nay sayers and skeptics but as Donald Mosby says, “Make your optimism come true. Don't tell people your plans. Show them your results.”

Go ahead. Ask yourself, if you weren’t afraid what would you do? You might find out there are some changes you should make.

Until next time…I’m Marty, make every minute count.
